UPDATE 3rd Jan 2025, Australia

Canada Post are still not accepting any international mail from Australia (or other countries) despite the strike being over, as they normalise operations.

Gifts ordered and dispatched with us via Australia Post (Tracked mail only) prior to 14th November 2024 have been delivered in the last week. Anything ordered beteen14th November & 24th November looks like it is still in transit.  Express post looks as if its being prioritised.

Australia Post, Canada orders placed after the 25th have been returned to us and we are still waiting for the go-ahead for Australia Post to accept them to be sent to Canada.

Canada Post has noted to expect delays well into January 2025.
You can still send to Canada via DHL express, however please be aware if you are sending to a remote location or location not in the DHL network, your parcel will likely be passed to Canada Post after arriving in a main Canadian town to get to its final stop, and therefore may still experience delays.

Updated 10th December 2024:

Please see latest updates from the Australia post website here

What's happened

Canada Postal workers have gone on strike since early November 2024 and negotiations to end the strike over pay and working conditions have not yet been successful.

As such, any parcel sent to Canada from early November 2024 by standard AU Post, is likely to be waiting to be delivered by Canada Post (Australia Post's partner in Canada) OR has been returned to us, as Canada is not accepting any international parcels right now.

As this is the busiest time of year, there is over 20 million parcels in the network in Canada that are waiting to be delivered.

If you are trying to send to Canada via Australia Post, you will not be able to right now.

Is my order affected?

Yes - if you ordered in November and chose standard no-frills economy (AU Post) or International Express (AU Post) to Canada, your order is very likely to be affected. We have emailed you via the email address on your order about what to expect, including your current options. Please check your email / junk mail or email us at info@istillcallaustraliahome.com if you are concerned.

AU Post Express parcels ordered in very early November have had a better delivery success rate but may also have been impacted by the strike.

Can I still send to Canada?

Yes. You can still send to Canada from our site via courier - DHL express. While this is a more expensive option, DHL own their own planes and network in major cities in Canada, and are therefore able to generally avoid issues with the local postal network.

The only exception to this, is if delivery is to a remote or rural area that only Canada Post service - if this is the case, DHL will get your item to the nearest DHL depot and hand it over to Canada Post for local delivery, so you will still experience delays.

This is the best we can do in the current circumstances.

Many thanks for your patience and Merry Christmas to all when you get to it.
